Marriage is a sacred partnership in which two persons pledge themselves to love, honor and respect each other. They call on Jesus Christ to be their mutual witness support and model for life. It is a graced covenant of love and fidelity between believers in God who is the author, the witness and the one who walks with you each day of your journey of life.
Marriages just don’t happen. They are nourished and guided by the prayer of the couple, seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit for this lifelong commitment. Weekly participation in the Eucharist, sharing the loving and caring Christ in sacrament is a must in preparation for your bond with your spouse.
And God created man to His own image; to the image of God He created him. Male and female He created them. And God blessed them, saying "Increase and multiply, and fill the earth.” (Genesis 1:27-28).
As soon as you have decided on a wedding date, contact the rectory. This will help ensure that Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, St. John, or Sacred Heart Chapel will be able to accommodate your date. Once the wedding date is available, a PMI (Pre-Matrimonial Investigation) conference with a preiest will be needed. This should be scheduled at least 12 months before the wedding. All required documentation should be submitted, and the wedding offering should be paid at this time. We also recommend scheduling the rehearsal practice for the evening before the wedding ceremony.
